Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

If someone wrecks your car for reckless driving and says he is not legally obligated to pay for damages because he wasn't the one take the keys ,but he was the one who wreck the car for trying to drift and ran into a stop sign. The owner of the car was not at home at the time the incident happen and someone took his keys and another person wrecked his car.

is he obligated to pay for damages?

Your insurance or the driver's insurance should pay for any damages, unless you purchased liability only. If that is the case, you will have to sue the driver for causing damage to your vehicle. If the vehicle was taken without permission, you should pursue criminal charges. It is possible the criminal court will award restitution.
