Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

I recently purchased a car under the "cash for clunkers program". All of my information was verified by the dealer and my old car was determined eligible. Now, a month later, I just received a letter saying that the dealership got a rejection from the government because my insurance lapsed for more than 10 days during the last year. The dealership requested that I return the new car and get my old one back (after I have already signed the contract and everything). I understand the rule to have continuous coverage for the last year, but I was unaware of the lapse because my parents pay my insurance. The contract that I signed states that "to my best knowledge.....the information that I presented is true, accurate, etc". Now I need to figure out if I am legally required to return the new car or is this just their mistake for not thoroughly checking my information before qualifying my old vehicle for the "clunkers" program.

Turn the car in and get your old one back. You could be charged with theft. Or, you could call your President and get his help.
