Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

State of Louisiana, Ouichita Parish: My yearly contract for leasing a duplex home was over late December of 2015, and till this day i have not signed or acknowledged a month-to-month. I am leaving this month, and i planned to use my security deposit to pay off my last month's rent, and also sending a check for the differential for the WHOLE month, even though i plan to leave by the 20th. The property management does not want to use my security deposit, threatened me with eviction, and state that i must pay the full month. Me and our property management have no ongoing contract as of last month, so do i need to pay them the full amount, or can i use the security deposit and send a check for the differential only? Reminder: there was damaged done to the duplex before moving in, acknowledged it by submitting a signed letter with all damages done, and till this day nothing has been fixed while I've been here.

You cannot use your security deposit to pay rent. Sorry, but your landlord is right on this one.
