Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Deceased sister's belongings

My sister was separated, living in an apartment for one year. She just passed away leaving two small children(with their dad) and no will. All she had was a truck she purchased and bank accounts in her name. I'm wondering if everything goes to estranged husband because they were not legally divorced or to the kids. I'd like to buy her truck, but it's been four months and he hasn't done anything yet. I'd like to know if there's any way I can find out any information about the status of her property. Thank you.

Re: Deceased sister's belongings

Since the father is the children's only living parent he administers the children's property unless a court order indicates differently. Discuss it with him.
