Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Forced Hiership

I have one sister, no brothers. My parents left all of their property to me in their will because my sister has had drug problems in the past and is in and out of jail. My sister and I are both over age 35. My sister was not mentioned in the will. The will was drawn up in 1998. Have any laws passed since then that would require re-doing this will? I read something about a ''new forced hiership law''. Would that apply to her?

Re: Forced Hiership

There is no need to change the will. Neither of you are forced heirs under our law, as it currently statns, and your mother can leave all of her property to whomever she wishes.
