How can i be held responsible for property taxes paid by another individual for a property that I did not know that I was partial owner of

If you are a co-owner, you are responsible for your share of the taxes, as well as insurance, etc. However, you are also entitled to your share of the rental value of the property. If the person who has been paying the taxes has also been using the property, they would owe you a fair rental for their use of it. You should consult an attorney.
