Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
my husband is a forced heir to his father and mother's estate in St. Tammany parish Louisiana. A large house filled with hundreds of items and a garage filled with tools, autos and numerous other things are in the estate. How do we protect my husband from the brother selling or disposing of all this movable property which should be part of the estate? Do we have a right to ask to take an inventory of such things, or get a list of such things?
1 Answer from Attorneys
you need to open a successoin and ask the court to appoint your husband as administrator - it would then be his duty to inventory the movable and immovable property, and to distrubute the property (or proceeds from sale of the property, if done within the succession, to the heirs in accordance with law
