How much would an open succession or probate proceeding cost in Louisiana? My father died 7 years ago and my mother wants to refinance the mortgage, but apparently my siblings and I own my father's half of the home because he died intestate. How much would it cost to transfer our shares of the house over to my mother?

Assuming that all you need to do is clear the title for the refinance, you could probably do that for about $1500, with $500-$600 of that being fees. Alternatively you may qualify to pass title with a simple affidavit filing which would cost under $1000, perhaps less depending on court filing fees.
