Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

power of attorney

i am my moms caregiver, but my sister wants a power of attorney in both of our names. she is out of state. i have always been on moms checking account and take care of all bills. can this be done and what if i make a life decision can i get in trouble if i can't get in touch with her at the time? i have a poa with just my name on it so i don't know what the problem is now. i just want to be sure if i let her make a new one with both of us on it i won't get in trouble.

Re: power of attorney

Although only you know your sister, I live in suspicion of people who want authority over other people's property.

Why does she want this control if you are handling your mother's business?

A power of attorney gives the agent the authority that the principal gives him/her. It takes no power away from the agent.
