Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Struck Oil and Gas!

My mother and father had some land. After he passed away, (1966) my mother, my siblings and I went to and lawyer and we made a partition and an exchange. She would give us the land but in exchange we would give her, the mineral right to the property. ( they was leasing parts of the property to a oil and gas company) Then in 1993 my mother past way, a year ago the oil company found oil and gas. Could we have inherited the mineral rights? Or does it go back to the current property owner. The partition and the exchange is documented and the court house.(Some of us children sold their land. Some sold before she died and some sold after she died)

Re: Struck Oil and Gas!

There are many possibilities here depending on the amount of time between the transfers and your mother's death. I strongly suggest that you consult with an attorney as an extensive review of the land records is necessary.
