Legal Question in DUI Law in Maine

out of state dui

I got a DUI in state A in Sept. 1995 and now in Feb. 2006 I receive a letter at my mothers house about a fine for that. What should I do, and would there be a statute of limitations for that?

Re: out of state dui

Without more facts, including an opportunity to

review the letter, it's not entirely clear what may be going on but a fair guess would be that it probably has something to do with fines which remain unpaid in connection with the DUI case.

The statute of limitations has nothing to due with the payment of fines connected with a conviction. Such fines can remain due and owing on the courthouse books for years until they are paid(and can also be a basis for having the person who owes them brought back to court to

explain why the fines haven't been paid.)
