Legal Question in Education Law in Maine
Education Debt
If a college did not bill a student for the balance of a course and then billed the student fourteen years later, is that bill still legal?

It depends upon your state law, but chances are that bill is no good. The statute of limitations begins to run at a certain point. But, you need to make sure of this with local counsel. A well-prepared letter of inquiry from a lawyer, may well solve the problem if the obligation is clearly unenforceable under your state's law.
