Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

In a family court case, after we have liberated, I was told for next hearing to give list of witnesses and file out a section 26. What is a section 26 in Maine?

The Judge or Magistrate that had mentioned providing a list of witnesses and exhibits was referring to Rule 26 of the Maine Rules of Civil Procedure. The rule can be found on the judicial branch's website for the state of Maine. Essentially, the rule outlines information that must be provided to the other party and usually the court and gives a timeline as to when certain documents need to be provided before a contested hearing. It sounds like you attended a pretrial conference in which the court established an outline of when various lists were due to the court before your final hearing. The dates of when you need to tell the court what witnesses and exhibits you are going to provide in your hearing are listed on the pretrial order. Review the order to determine when you are required to notify the court and the other party of who will be testifying and what exhibits you will be providing to the court. Good luck.
