Living together is one of those really basic flags that the government uses to determine whether your marriage is valid for purposes of awarding him residency rights.

Even though it is not uncommon for American couples to live apart, at least short term, that leeway is not granted to couples who base one spouse's right to live in the US on marriage.

The government expects nearly a white picket-fence sort of marriage, --whether it's fair or not is an on-going debate.

If you haven't been to an interview yet, the process is still working, and you need to stay on top of it to make sure your case doesn't fall between the cracks.

There are plenty of resources on-line to help you, but it's going to be a rough sell, especially since he's apparently from the Middle East.
