Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine

Probate of estate

Its been 4 yrs since my x-husband passed on. His son was 2nd in line to the estate probate hearings but never got informed of the status of the estate from day one. We hired a lawyer for him but did not get any answers so fired her. How do you go about finding out the status of the estate?

Re: Probate of estate

The Probate Court should have a Petition for Probate if there was a Will or intestate proceedings if there was no Will. Information re Court filings is public. If nothing is filed, then I would contact the individual who was closest to him who would have had to by necessity address his estate, and depending upon the response I got I might even file a peitiion with the Probate Court to bring in that person to account for their actions.
