Legal Question in Banking Law in Maryland

My bank has charged me over draft fees on items which I had the money in my account to cover, As a result, i have been pretty much negative in my account since the first of june. They made this mistake not once, but twice. Can they legally do that? How do I get my money back! My husband is in the military and he works really hard for every penny we earn. I appreciate the time.. Thank you

You may consider taking the following course of action:

1.) Call your bank and see if they will voluntarily get rid of the overdraft fees.

2.) If the bank refuses over the phone, prepare a written letter to the bank with print-outs of your bank records showing you had the money in the account to cover the charges as they flowed in. Re-request that they investigate the matter. Politely explain that if they do not void the overdraft fees, you may be forced to take further legal action.

3.) If the bank refuses, you may consider hiring a debtor's rights attorney in Maryland to bring legal action to recoup your expenses.

Thank you to both you and your husband for your service to our great country. Best of luck.
