Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

I filed for bankruptcy in February. I noticed on my credit report that two of the credit card companies sold my debt after I already filed and was under bankruptcy protection. Is this legal? Will the person who bought my debt come after me for payment or will they see I filed bankruptcy and close case.

Credit card companies often sell debt as to which bankruptcy has been filed. This is itself not a problem - the buyers generally buy this debt in bulk and pay pennies (or less) on the dollar and are taking a chance that there will be assets available for distriubution in the case. If all that they do is file proofs of claim in the bankruptcy, that's fine. If they go beyond that and try to collect discharged debt, they are in violation of the discharge injunction.

I would write them a letter and let them know that you filed chapter 7 and make sure you include your case number in the letter.
