Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

How do I receive restitution from a bankruptcy that was filed in a civil suit of

Last year I won a civil suit against a employee who assualted me. This person was found guilty by a jury and was ordered by the court to pay a substantual restitition.There was a torte also saying that bankrupcy could not protect this person. The person filed and was granted bankrupcy even though my lawyer nor myself was notified. What can I do to write this wrong?

Assuming that the restitution the employee was ordered to pay you is the type that could not be discharged in a bankruptcy (I don't know all of the circumstances), then you do not have to do anything to right the wrong. You can do what you would have done before the bankruptcy was filed - which is to collect the debt that is due to you. Actually, you might have better luck collecting now because this person is debt-free! And try to locate his or her bankruptcy petition and look at it so you can find out where he or she is working and garnish his or her wages. Good luck.
