Bad reference for a contractor
Is it illegal to give a bad reference for a contractor that my company used? I was called by another company thinking of using the same contractor and I would not recommend them.

Why would you think that? If you give accurate information and your opinion about the contractor, it's perfectly acceptable. You would expect the same if you were seeking a reference.
