Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Do I have a case.... My husband is a general contractor. He submitted a bid to an apartment complex and was awarded the contract. This was two months ago. In the meantime, my husband has discussed the plans and even was to give a bid on another complex. They had talked back and forth the whole time. Last Friday when they spoke it was decided that the cabinet maker would place the cabinets in each unit instead of leaving them outside for my husband to do. That was the issue holding up the contract signing. We have also not acquired any new business in anticipation of this job. 44 units were to be remodeled at this juncture. Yesterday my husband received a call from the owner saying he had contacted our references and they were unfavorable. Impossible! The issue is probably that my husbands aunt manages the complex and this week became enraged over an issue with her son which in itself is baffling. Either way, we only have a verbal contract but have correspondence and witnesses to prove we were remodeling the units. We are in Maryland if that matters.

I don't see any indication that the bid was accepted. If you have no proof of their acceptance, you have no evidence of any contract, verbal or otherwise. You should speak with an attorney for additional information and specific legal advice.
