Greetings,
I wanted to know if I started selling food that I got from a workout plans recipie book would I have to notify the company or is there any legal precedence I should follow before selling the food?

No, you could use their receipes, but depending on how you want to market your business you will have to be careful of violating their trademarks or copyrights.
