Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

We received a note on our pay stubs today that stated " all PTO time will be suspended until further notice". Is this legal?? We were given no notice and are not being told how long this "suspension" will last. I am due a renewal in January. We have a use it or lose it policy. How can I use what is not being allowed. I feel as though I am being robbed of money that I have earned. These are accrued PTO hours. What is my next step if this is illegal to do?

Whether it is legal or illegal for your company to suspend PTO depends entirely on whether the company has a written policy or you signed some type of employment agreement (or collective bargaining agreement, if you are part of a union). There is no federal or Maryland laws, which govern how employers can deal with PTO issues. If you have an employment agreement or a collective bargaining agreement or company policy that says that the company cannot suspect PTO, the I would strongly recommend that you bring it to a Maryland attorney to review and consult. If not, you are probably out of luck.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
