Is the surviving spouse responsible for credit card debts incurred by the other in the event of his/her death?

Re: Credit debt

No. These are payable only from the estate, unless the other spouse co-signed (if the surviving spouse was an authorized user, s/he may be liable for his/her charges, depending on the card agreement).
