Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

I was arrested with my first offense of theft under 1000. The store is saying approximately $350, The man called the police like I was actively stealing and they came in, asked for evidence of a video, exact amounts, and if somebody saw me steal, and they didn't have any of that. During my arrest, the LP man was begging the police to parade me around the store and show me off to customers and employees, he followed them outside while he was asking. Can somebody help me understand what will happen? As I've said this is my first offense, and I'm not a bad person at all, have never been arrested before this.

The State may prosecute you for theft. You have the right to require the State to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury of twelve citizens. If convicted, the Court may sentence you to serve 18 months in prison.

An experienced criminal defense attorney can help you evaluate defenses and mitigation. Seek a confidential consultation, and beware that online posts are not confidential. If you cannot afford to hire a private attorney, then apply to the Office of the Public Defender for an appointed one.
