is second degree assult on a law officer a felony; and if son what class is it; f?

Yes, it is a felony. However, if the son were not working or in uniform, then it would probably be an ordinary second degree assault.

What Mr. Welch is saying, is that perhaps there's a defense to the felony portion. However, Maryland doesn't classify felonies like some other states.
