Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Jail time for second degree assault on police officer?

My friend is depressed, has tried to kill herself mulitple times, and she is an alcoholic.

She got drunk the other night and the police arrested her. She is 26 yrs/old.

She is charged with:

2712A Assualt-Sec Degree [10Y&/or $2,500.]

27121B2 Disorderly Conduct [60D &/or $500.]

Bail was set at $500.00

The assualt is on the arresting officer, who she allegedly struck several times on his torso

while he was arresting her.

She has prior arrests(no convictions)for domestic incidents, 1 DWI conviction.

Can you tell me what you would GUESS the *actual* sentence in this type case will be,

under these circumstances?

Thanks you for your valuable time,

Re: Jail time for second degree assault on police officer?

It depends on what Judge you get. Judge A would probably give probation, but Judge B takes a serious view on striking a police officer and may give some time in jail. This is a case were you want to take a lawyer to Court.
