how long does it take for the prosecuter to give defendant lawyer the discovery

While the Maryland Rules provide for 30 days from defense counsel's request, as a practical matter the time varies. Sometimes the prosecutor's office has to obtain the material from the police department, a hospital, or a third party. Sometimes discovery is an ongoing process. All of this depends on the nature of the discovery in a particular case. In some cases the state supplements discovery several times as the prosecutor receives it.
