Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

I went to rehab at the end of last year in California. I came home in January and relapsed. I started stealing and was charged with 1000 to over 10,000. I went back to rehab in Nevada in February and am still there. The rehab and I have both tried to get a public defender for the last 2 months and I still can't get the information I need from their office. I have 2 days left to obtain one before I can't have one assigned. My court date is the end of July and I am still in rehab. If I fail to appear what will happen? I am 21 years old.

If you fail to appear, then the Court will most likely issue a warrant for your arrest. After that any law enforcement officer anywhere is supposed to arrest you.

Considering that you're out of state, you may be detained in jail wherever you might be until That state contacts Maryland regarding whether Maryland will extradite at that moment. This might happen repeatedly to you, because Maryland will probably decline the cost of extradition each time in a theft case. Regardless, the warrant will remain outstanding until you surrender in Maryland. Don't fail to appear.

Contact OPD and find out if you may apply from where you are. If not, when you go to Court ask the judge for a postponement to apply and then do so before you leave.
