Legal Question in DUI Law in Maryland

Dui/dwi

I was charged with 21-902(a)(1) DUI

and 21-902 9(b)(1) DWI. This is my

first offense and the first time I've

been arrested in MD (TX traffic

ticket). I denied the Breath Alcohol

Test and was released about five

hours after being taken in. I wasn't

fingerprinted or anything like that.

Just sat in a cell until my paperwork

was finished then let go. What are

the common punishments for my

situation. And I CANNOT afford a

lawer. I am a student. What should

I do?

Re: Dui/dwi

First of all, you should look around for a lawyer, you'd be surprised at the type of rates and payment plans you could get. It is very important to make sure you do everything right, because it could end up costing you A LOT more in the long-run if you try to do everything yourself.

Secondly, please see the other post to your other question for common punishments. If you are going to court in Montgomery County, your punishment could vary WIDELY depending on the judge you get. You can information on which judge you will have by calling the court, but you should get an attorney (or at least a PD) who will know about each judge's attitudes and likely penalties.
