Legal Question in DUI Law in Maryland

Failure to appear for a second DWI violation

As soon as your first DWI is finished and off your record you get picked up for a second violation. Then due to unforseen circumstances you fail to appear for your hearing. Can you just turn yourself in, or should you have a lawyer with you? What exactly would you be facing when you did?

Re: Failure to appear for a second DWI violation

In Maryland, your first DWI does not drop off your record, the points may expire, but the conviction remains. If you missed a court date, more than likely a bench warrant was issued for your arrest. Further, your driver's license may have been suspended. You should consult with an attorney immediately.
