Legal Question in DUI Law in Maryland

My license was revoked in MD for a 1999 dui. I have had a valid Utah license since 2001, but am unable to renew because of MD hold. In the MD reinstatement pkg they are requiring a 6 month aclohol treatment program before they will clear me. I have not had alcohol for 11.5 years, and a valid license for the whole time (no tickets). My Utah license expires in August (aprox.100 days); what are my options?

They are actually requiring a 26 session program, which you may be able to complete in a shorter period of time. You should probably speak with a Maryland attorney who is familiar with the workings of the Maryland MVA, specifically reinstatement.

The cheaper and quicker option is to immediately enroll in a state certified alcohol treatment program and complete it. You could spend more money and time seeking a Maryland court order directing MVA to release the hold, and the court might rule against you anyway.
