Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Being adopted at age 32.

I am 32, and have physically been part of a family other then my biological family since age 13. From age 13 I was in a foster care system in MD. My question is if I wanted to try and make it a legal adoption can it still be done after all this time? This would also include a name change to inherit the name of the family that I have been a part of since age 13.

Re: Being adopted at age 32.

You can change your name without going through an adoption to reflect that you are part of the family. At 32 I don't see the necessity of an adoption since you are no longer a minor. If your family believes that you are entitled to a part of the estate as inheritance, they can have you placed in a will.
