Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Change guardianship

My mom and dad passed away and my aunt and uncle are my guardians. I don't want to stay here and they know this. I want to live with a very close friend. I am 17. They are okay with this but they don not want to help me. I need to know if there are forms I have to sign. My close frien is 40 years old. She will take me. My aunt and uncle are very fustrated and I just want to leave. What is the fastest way of replacing my guardians?

Re: Change guardianship

Your friend would have to agree to become your guardian, with the consent of your aunt and uncle. Then they have to file a court petition.
