Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Name change in MD

I wanted to know if it is worth trying to get a minors name changed. The child was born with his mother's last name, but the father has joint legal custody, pays child support, has regular visitation, and also provides health insurance for the minor. Will a judge consider all of this when making a decision? Thanks

Re: Name change in MD

Those factors will be considered. If both parents agree, it should be very easy to change the child's name. If the mother objects, the father will likely have an appearance before the judge at which point those factors will be considered.
