Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child Custody

I have two wonderful girls ages 3 and 1. I am in the process of filing for custody and sometime in the near future want to move to South Carolina. The father of my two girls in currently in jail. Is there a law stating that I would not be able to relocate to South Carolina if I am granted sole custody?

No. However, if the father, after his release, seeks visitation in MD, there may be an issue as to who has to bear the costs of transporting the children for such visitation.

There would be nothing to prevent you from moving if you are granted sole custody. Occasionally, the non custodial parent will ask the court to order some type of notice prior to the move. Does not appear to be an issue in your case since.
