Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child Support for Grandchild

I was granted custody of my grandson 12/05. I didn't ask for support because neither parent had a job. They both are currently working. I tried to file a case through OCSE but was turned down because the case was less than three years old. Why can't I file? If I can file how do I make OSCE take the case?

Thank you

Re: Child Support for Grandchild

You can file your own petition for support, either by yourself, or preferably, through an experienced family law attorney. You will have to know how to get correct income information from the parents and how to compute the appropriate amount of support each should be paying under the Maryland Child Support Guidelines.
