Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Citizenship in the Divorce Decree

My ex-wife has stated in Divorce Court that she is a US Citizen, which is on the Divorce Decree. I know for a fact that she wasn't a US Citizen at that time because she filed for Permanent Resident while I was married to her. What legal action can I take against her?

If you're really vindictive enough to want to possibly cause your ex some difficulties which will not otherwise benefit you, you could go to the state's attorney in your county and see if they are interested in prosecuting her for perjury. In all likelihood, they'll decline to do so.

She became a naturalized citizen upon your marriage. If she lied in a court of law as to her status upon divorce, the best that can be done is to report her to INS as she may not have legal status to remain in the country. If you seek any other remedy as to assets that may not have been properly disposed of through the divorce, speak to an attorney.
