Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I have been divorced 2 ears currently. My ex was given use and possetion of owr home and was supposed to buy me out within 3 years , she let the home be forclosed. I she in contemt of the court order and am I due my end of the money still?. I also am behind in xhild support as I lost my job and became virtually homeless. I am trying to make my way back up but not sure what my rights are.

She may be in contempt if she failed to comply with the court' order. Moreover, if there are net proceeds as a result of the sale, you may be entitled to some money.

As far as your child support is concerned, you should have filed a petition to modify child support when you lost your job. Many fathers fail to do this. As a result, if your ex wanted to, she could file a petition for contempt for your failure to pay child support. In any event, don't make the matter worse. File the petition for contempt for the house and to modify your child support obligation. At the minimum, the court will lower your monthly obligations and roll your delinquency total into future payments.
