Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My husband through me out of the house in Florida so he could persue drugs and alcohol. I had to move where my family was in Maryland. I have been here for 2 years and still have a Fl. drivers license. I got cancer my 1st year here and had to have major surgery. I also suffer with migraine headaches so I went on SS disability. (not much money) I have not been able to find work (PT or FT) and have not been able to afford to change my drivers license over to Md. ( my car needs repairs)

1. Do I have to get a lawyer in Md or Fl ? (I cannot afford to get a motel in Fl)

2. Where in the world do I start ?

I assume you are asking about where to file for divorce. Since you have lived in MD for at least a year, you are considered a MD resident and can file here. Contact the bar association in your county to find out about pro bono (free) legal services.
