Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

In-Laws Divorcing, can I get the child?

I live in NJ, and my inlaws live in MD with the daughter they adopted from me 11 years ago. I live with my mother and other daughter in NJ in a stable home environment. My inlaws have recently discussed divorce. If they split, they will not be able to stay in the house they currently have, as it requires both their incomes. And neither one of them is able to support themselves alone, let alone care for a child (this is their own admission). Neither one of them has reliable family to go to. Yet each one says they will fight for custody if they do split. Am I able to ask the court for custody of the child?

Did they fully adopt your daughter? That will have a huge impact on whether you can now fight for custody. However, a court will always do what is in a child's best interest. Have you had any contact with your daughter?
