Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Was married in 1985 and separated in 1986. Can not locate other spouse to file divorce papers. What can I do and is there a statutory limitation on separations?

Dear married and seperated:

It all depends on how much effort you have used to find your spouse. If you put forth enough effort first, a motion can be filed for alternative service, which involves notice of some type. The appropriateness of your previous efforts as well as the type of alternative notice to be provided both need to be approved by a Judge first. If you call or e-mail me, I would be happy to discuss the factual particulars with you further.
