Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Pro Se divorce, I need help

I plan on filing a pro se divorce in St. Mary's Cty. I need to know the process. I cannot afford a lawyer and I have to divorce this man. What do I need to know and do and when?

I suggest you go to the clerk's office at the circuit court in your county and ask the clerk's to help you. Sometimes in the smaller counties they'll do so. If you've been continuously separated from him for at least 2 years, and know where to find him in order to serve him with the divorce papers, it shouldn't be too difficult--unless you want more than just the divorce (money, property, children, etc.).

There are many matters to consider with a divorce. Continuation of health insurance is a major benefit. If assets are involved, that is any assets acquired during your marriage, then you should talk to a lawyer. Non-contested divorces often incorporate terms of a separation agreement and skillful negotiation may be needed.

I provide various levels of legal service with separation agreements and divorce. See my listed phone numbers and please feel free to contact me, or leave a message.
