Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Hello,,, I have many questions as this will be my first time at this. Me and my wife have been separated since July and we have no kids together, don't own any property together and had been married for 13yrs. What type of obligation, if any would i be responsible for after divorce. I want to move on with my life and need help.

Kids and property are usually the big issues in a divorce, however, even without them there can be contentious issues that need to be resolved. "Property" is a more expansive concept than one ordinarily thinks of, including retirement savings earned during the marriage, the growth in other assets that may be titled separately -- basically, anything of a financial nature that was established or changed during the marriage can conceivably be at issue. Debt is another area that may need to be addressed. Even without real property (houses, land), car loans, credit card debt, and other loans or obligations need to be squared away. Finally, Maryland law does provide for alimony. Usually this is of a rehabilitative nature -- that which is required to allow a party to become self-supporting if they cannot support themselves due to the circumstances of the marriage. There are many factors to consider when analyzing whether alimony is appropriate.
