Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

civil claim - small claims

I worked as a general manager for

a marketing company that was

blocking my attempt to submit my

expense reports. They then fired

me for no worthy reason. I was

able then to submit my expenses

but, after it was typed up, someone

in corporate denied it for no good

reason. When I went to district

court I found the company had

dissolved its relationship with both

registered agents in both MD and

VA. Am I still able to sue the Texas

based company in small claims

court or am I out of luck? The claim

is for $2600 plus interest from 01-

29-07.

You can still sue the company, but if they've pulled their operations out of this area, you'll end up doing so in TX in order to collect. That is, you could bring the suit here and serve the Department of Assessments and Taxation (you can check its site to see whether the company still has active status in MD), but even if you get a judgment here, you'd have to have it filed in TX if that's where their assets are. So you have an economics decision--is it worth pursuing for that amount?
