Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maryland

Hey,

My tenant gave her notice 6 days from her move out date. She should have given 30 days notice according to our month-to-month lease. We're in Pg county, MD

I don't think she'll give me a real forwarding address if any at all, but I know where she works.

She owes me for the remaining 24 days after her planned move-out date. (approx $400).

I don't have her ID no, bank info no or social security no. I didn't charge her deposit because I trusted and felt bad for her. My dumb mistake

A process server will cost more than the amt owed. What should I do?

(FYI She had changed her bedroom door lock without telling me, in violation of our lease, a few days prior)

You can try to take her to small claims court to get the $400 but, as you recognize, it may cost you more time and effort (not to mention money) than it is worth. You may consider this an expensive lesson learned and remember it next time you think about allowing a tenant to move in without a security deposit.
