i had a small kitchen fire , the microwave got burn ,one cabien got burn ,smoke in wall.and my landlord is asking for me to pay the damage .can the do that.

If the fire was your fault, then yes, the landlord is entitled to be reimbursed for the damage. Your apartment is the property of the landlord. If you damage someone else's property, you have to re-pay them under the law. Did you have renter's insurance? If not, you will have to pay out of pocket. If the fire was not your fault, then you don't have to pay for the damage.
