Legal Question in Mediation in Maryland

I am the president of a community pool. I have a male member who put a female member in a choke hold (we think as a joke) but the husband of the female became irate and the next day the husband went to the other members home and supposedly threatened him. They both have called me to say if they run into one another at the pool it will not be pretty. The husband of the woman grabbed wants me to have something written up and put on file about the actions of the other member and if our board does not agee to this they will quit the pool. I feel both parties are putting me (unfortunatley my family is friends with both these families) but more importantly are putting the pool in the middle. It did happen on pool grounds, but it was not to any fault of the pool. Should I take this to the board or tell them both that the pool cannot be involved. (The pool lawyer is a very good friend of one of the members so I did not want to involve him.

There's not a good legal answer to this question. In a better safe than sorry situation, you may consider banning both of them from the pool. Why are you so fearful that someone will quit the pool? Let them!

Best of luck.******The above is intended for informational purposes and does not create an attorney-client relationship.*******
