Addendum To Deed Of Lease

I am living in a home that i am renting from my landlord. I just recieved information about an addendum to deed of lease. It states that there is an increase in my monthly rent. Is my landlord aloud to increase my rent midlease or is it suppose to stay consistent through the lease?

Re: Addendum To Deed Of Lease

If you signed a lease for a fixed monthly rent and there were no provisions for increasing the rent during the term of the lease, the landlord cannot raise your rent until the lease ends. For example, if it was a 1 year lease, at the end of the lease you can either negotiate a new lease or go on a month to month basis, in which case the rent can be changed at any time.

Re: Addendum To Deed Of Lease

Greetings,

Your question may depend on what really is the "term" of the lease. For example, if you have a lease for a one year term, generally, the base rent cannot be increased until the year is up. If, on the other hand, your lease is month-to-month, it can usually be increased on 30 days notice. If your lease s in writing, these terms, and the right to increase the rent, are usually specified.
