Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Homeowner's rights

My elderly mother lives in a condo minium. Last week (2/15/08) , building engineers gained access to her unit under the pretext that some pipe was leaking in the building. Nothing was leaking in my mother's unit. They told my mother they had an ''EMERGENCY'' to gain access to her unit.

The building engineers broke through a wall to access these pipes. At the time, they told my mother that they'll fix her wall on 2/19/08.

To date, nothing has been fixed. Now, the chief engineer is telling her she has to wait 2 weeks to have her wall fixed.

She is an elder woman whose unit has been damaged by building engineers, even though nothing in her unit was leaking. Now, they're refusing to fix her wall in a timely manner. My mother is very distessed by these events.

What rights do we have, and how do we proceed?

Have your mother file a complaint with the condo management company and demand that they get someone out immediately to fix her wall. Perhaps that will spur them into getting it fixed sooner. If that doesn't work, hopefully the chief engineer will deliver on his promise and it will be taken care of shortly.
