Ordinarily a judgment cannot be placed on a home belonging to someone other than the judgment debtor. It is a bit more complex when property is owned jointly. Maryland law offers certain protection to homeowners owning property as husband and wife -- you would want to immediately check to see how your home is titled and how the judgment is identified. An attorney should be able to quickly review your deed and the judgment record to advise you accordingly.
